Joshua5;13-14a

At Your Command

Joshua 5:13-14
Joshua demanded,
“Are you friend or foe?”
“Neither,” he replied.
“I am the commander
of the Lord’s army.”
At this, Joshua fell
with his face to the ground in reverence.
“I am at your command,” Joshua said.
“What do you want
your servant to do?”

God, we are blessed to have people in our lives who are generous with their time…I’m learning more and more that the gift of quality time is a love language that resonates. Perhaps it’s because time cannot be saved, stored up, replenished, or earned back…and perhaps that is why you ask us to spend unhurried time with you…giving you our most precious offering… and in return you give us vision, humility, and courage to go and make an impact on others…At your command Lord. Gratefully, At your Command. Amen

God, we are grateful for the fathers of this world who have healthy eyes. Over time, as we fully receive our giftings from you, we more easily notice the men around us whom you have lit up from within…and we more easily see the traces of their light shining brightly in their families, in their communities, and in their workplaces…whatever they touch…whomever they meet… just enough traces…an almost invisible trail of artifacts and relationships…that when connected…look a lot like what we may find investigating the path of Jesus…if we were following Him at the time Matthew or Luke were…God, we pray that you would keep surrounding us with men who shine brightly…so that we can learn from one another…encourage one another…rebuke one another when it’s called for…refine one another…and lend our light to one another…over the hills, across fields, beside streams, and through the valleys we will inevitably sojourn. In the name of Jesus, thank you for the men whom we meet on our way to battle…whom are neither for us or against us…but represent you…the Commander of the Army of the Lord…Amen
