Disciples Receive

1 Peter 2:8-10
Those who reject Jesus
stumble
because they do not obey
God’s word,
and so they meet the fate
that was planned for them.
But you are not like that,
for you are a chosen people.
You are royal priests,
a holy nation,
God’s very own possession.
As a result, you can show others
the goodness of God,
for he called you
out of the darkness
into his wonderful light.
“Once you had no identity
as a people;
now you are God’s people.
Once you received no mercy;
now you have received
God’s mercy.”

THE RICH AND FERTILE HILL
The first requirement of
establishing a vineyard  is to
obtain a piece of land.  The rich
and fertile hill described in the
vineyard parable represents God’s
love and all that it entails.  When
we receive God’s love, we
become part of God’s vineyard.

How is that an Action?
God’s love is available to all.
Jesus’ salvation is available to all.
Our identity in Christ, our God-given
purpose in this life, is available to all.
The first and most necessary step
in becoming a disciple of Jesus
Christ is to claim the rich and fertile
hill, to receive what God has to offer,
to accept Jesus as your personal
Lord and Savior; this simple step is
the foundation of discipleship.  Once
the decision has been to receive
God’s love, we must then be willing
to learn exactly who God is and who
he created us to be.
