Be Still
Psalm 46:8-11
Come, gaze, fix your eyes
on what our God can do.
He has worked desolation
here on this battlefield, earth.
God can stop wars
anywhere in the world.
He can make scrap of all weapons:
snapping bows, shattering spears,
and burning shields.
“Be still. Be calm. Be silent.
Surrender your anxiety
and see that I am God.
I am God above all the nations.
I will be exalted throughout the earth.”
Here he stands!
The Commander!
The mighty Lord of Angel Armies
is on our side!
The God of Jacob fights for us!
Pause in his presence.

SEVENAPPELS COMMENTARY
Friends, I’ve found
that the solution to my anxiety
sometimes comes from simple silence.
For example, I know
that when I complain in my anxiety,
my anxiety often skyrockets.
However, when I remain still and silent,
keeping my eyes on Jesus,
it’s as if my anxiety runs out of gas.
Whatever you’re wrestling with today,
may you find sanctuary in the stillness.
May you find calm in the storm.
May you discover the power of silence
by praying Psalm 46.
